Install and sign in
Add Vocabulary Mastery from the Chrome Web Store and complete a short onboarding: level, interests, and languages.

Read as usual
Keep browsing. When you hit an unfamiliar word, select it. You do not switch to a separate reader or paste the article elsewhere.

Learn in context
Read the definition, hear pronunciation when available, and write a practice sentence for AI feedback.

Review with stories
Open the dashboard to run review stories and track mastery. Words from YouTube Captions appear in the same list.

Frequently asked questions
Does Vocabulary Mastery work on every website?
It runs on most pages you visit in Chrome. A few highly locked-down sites or sandboxed editors may block selection. You can still manage saved words from the extension popup.
Is this a Language Reactor alternative?
Not by itself. Language Reactor is built around video subtitles. Vocabulary Mastery is for webpages. Together with TalkClips Captions, the pair covers YouTube plus the rest of the web.
How is this different from a popup dictionary?
A dictionary gives a gloss. Vocabulary Mastery also stores the word, uses your level and the page sentence, checks a sentence you write, and reviews the item later in a story.
Does it replace Anki?
No. There is no Anki export today. If spaced-repetition decks are the center of your workflow, Migaku or a dedicated flashcard tool may still be better. Use Vocabulary Mastery when you want learning to happen on the page you are reading.
Is my browsing history collected?
No. Only words you choose to learn and their surrounding context sentences are sent for definitions and review. See the privacy policy for the full list of permissions.
